A Silver Creek couple is facing charges after their 4-year-old child was found alone on I-90 westbound earlier this week.
According to New York State Police, 31-year-old Robert Lyman and 30-year-old Mikayla Miller were arrested on Thursday by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation for endangering the welfare of a child.
The incident occurred on October 28, around 6:10 p.m., when a passing motorist spotted a young child on the roadway and pulled over to keep the child safe until troopers arrived. The child’s home is nearby, and Child Protective Services (CPS) had been conducting an unannounced visit at the time, discovering the child was missing.
Troopers confirmed the child was unharmed and coordinated with CPS. Lyman and Miller were issued appearance tickets for Hanover Town Court in November. CPS is continuing to work with the family to ensure the children’s safety.
