A Waterloo teenager is facing charges after reportedly interfering with law enforcement during an investigation connected to an incident in Ontario County.
According to the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrested 19-year-old Kassandra Waid in the Village of Waterloo on a charge of obstruction of governmental administration.
Deputies say the arrest followed a menacing complaint from Ontario County, where Waid was driving a vehicle whose passenger allegedly displayed a firearm. When the vehicle was stopped in Waterloo, investigators say Waid obstructed deputies as they attempted to complete their investigation.
The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, the Waterloo Police Department, and the New York State Police.
Waid was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Waterloo Court on November 5 at 5 p.m.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
