Early voting is off to a strong start in Ontario County, with turnout far ahead of similar election years, according to the county’s Board of Elections.
As of Tuesday evening, more than 1,800 residents had already cast their ballots during the first four days of early voting for the November 4 General Election. That figure compares to 1,085 voters at this point in 2023, 390 in 2021, and 646 in 2019.
Early voting began Saturday and will continue through November 2, at locations in Canandaigua, Geneva, and Victor. Polling hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the weekend.
The Board of Elections also reports that more than 1,100 mail-in and absentee ballots have already been returned, with another 1,100 ballots still outstanding. Officials encourage voters who received a ballot by mail to return it promptly using the postage-paid envelope included.
To be counted, ballots must be postmarked by Election Day, November 4, or dropped off in person at an early voting site, any Election Day polling place, or the Board of Elections office.
On Election Day, 44 polling sites across Ontario County will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
