7:15 P.M. UPDATE:
Three people were airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital after a car collided with a horse and buggy Sunday afternoon in the Town of Barrington.
The Yates County Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 2:30 p.m. on Six Corners Road. Investigators say 38-year-old Alisha Wheeler of Dundee was driving south when her vehicle struck the buggy from behind, causing significant damage and throwing the occupants from the buggy.
The buggy’s driver, 31-year-old Daniel Nolt, along with 25-year-old Linda Nolt and a child passenger, all of Dundee, suffered serious injuries and were flown by helicopter to Rochester. Wheeler and her passenger, a child, were not hurt. Unfortunately, due to the injuries it suffered, the horse had to be put down.
Wheeler was ticketed for following too closely.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by Dundee Fire/Ambulance, Yates County Ambulance, Penn Yan Ambulance, Yates OEM, Mercy Flight, Lifenet 1 & 2, Yates County Animal Control, Yates County CID, YCSO Accident investigation team, and YCSO UAV.
6:30 p.m. UPDATE: Six Corners Road has reopened, per the Yates County Sheriff’s Office.
Three people were airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital on Sunday after a car versus horse and buggy accident in Yates County.
The accident occurred on Six Corners Road in Dundee at approximately 2:30. Six Corners is currently closed between Haley Hill Road and Bossard Road.
