Geneva City Manager Amie Hendrix says the charges filed this week against two members of the Geneva Police Department are “deeply troubling” and do not reflect the city’s values or the integrity of its officers.
Former officer Michael Tapscott and Sergeant David Felice both face felony charges following separate investigations. Tapscott is accused of selling Adderall to another person in April. He resigned from the department the following month. Felice, who was placed on administrative leave in May, was arraigned this week on felony counts of tampering with physical evidence and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
In a statement released Thursday, Hendrix said the city is fully cooperating with ongoing investigations and emphasized the importance of accountability and transparency.
“As a community, we expect our public servants to hold themselves to the highest standards of conduct,” Hendrix said. “When that trust is broken, it affects every one of us.”
Hendrix also commended Police Chief Ron Eveland and the rest of the department for continuing to serve the community “with professionalism through very difficult circumstances.”
She added that the city will continue to review internal systems, strengthen expectations, and support its employees moving forward, saying trust “is built through honesty and consistency.”
