Peak foliage will arrive this weekend throughout much of the Finger Lakes. According to the field reports from volunteer observers for the Empire State Development Division of Tourism’s I LOVE NY program, locations with peak foliage will include Auburn, Farmington, Lyons, and Penn Yan.
Here is a more detailed report by county:
Cayuga County
- Auburn: 85% change — Peak color with mostly red and yellow leaves.
Cortland County
- Homer & Polkville: Up to 80% change — Peak to past peak with bright yellows and oranges, and noticeable leaf drop. Maples, mimosas, walnuts, and birches are especially vibrant.
Livingston County
- Geneseo: 50% change — Mostly yellow leaves with pops of red.
- Letchworth State Park (Mt. Morris): 75% change — Past peak with significant leaf drop.
Monroe County
- Rochester: 65% change — Bright yellows with growing red, orange, purple, and maroon tones; some leaf drop.
Onondaga County
- Baldwinsville (Beaver Lake Nature Center): 65% change — Past peak with a wide mix of autumn colors.
Ontario County
- Farmington: 80% change — Peak with brilliant yellow, orange, red, and purple.
- Canandaigua: 75% change — Approaching peak with mostly muted hues.
Schuyler County
- Watkins Glen: 80% change — Past peak with strong reds, oranges, browns, and some yellow.
Seneca County
- Seneca Falls: 75% change — Peak with bright oranges over a mostly yellow backdrop.
- Waterloo: 75% change — Just past peak with strong yellows, golds, reds, and purples.
Steuben County
- Bath, Corning, Hammondsport & Hornell: 80% change — Just past peak with vivid reds, oranges, yellows, and browns.
Tioga County
- Owego: 70% change — Peak with a strong mix of fall shades.
Tompkins County
- Ithaca & Trumansburg: 75–100% change — Past peak with mostly deep gold, orange, and red tones.
Wayne County
- Lyons: 70% change — Peak with muted to average yellows and oranges.
Yates County
- Penn Yan: 60% change — Peak with yellows, browns, and occasional bright oranges and reds. Higher elevations past peak; lower elevations mid-change.
