The Keuka College women’s volleyball team earned a decisive 3-0 victory over Elmira College on Tuesday night in Empire 8 action.
The Wolves won in straight sets — 25-14, 25-15, 25-16 — marking their first sweep of the season and second win overall.
Junior Nina Scott (Honeoye Falls, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) set a career high with four total blocks and surpassed 500 career kills in the match. Rosslan Force (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan Academy) also notched four blocks, helping lead a strong defensive effort.
Keuka set the tone early with a 4-0 run to open the first set and never looked back. Behind the serving of Addison Chorney (Elmira, N.Y./Elmira), who tallied a collegiate-best two service aces, the Wolves built a commanding lead to take the opener 25-14.
The momentum carried into the second set as Keuka jumped out to a 9-3 advantage and never trailed. The Wolves delivered six service aces in the frame — including two from Scott — to go up 2-0.
Elmira fought to stay alive in the third, but a 9-1 Keuka run swung the momentum back to the Wolves. Alessandra Castañeda (San Antonio, Texas/John Marshall) contributed two key kills as Keuka closed out the sweep with a 7-3 finishing run.
