Ontario County Seeks More Electricity

SHARE NOW

Three local governments are calling on state regulators and utilities to expand electric power infrastructure in Ontario County.

The Ontario County Board of Supervisors, the Geneva City Council, and the Canandaigua City Council have each passed resolutions urging NYSEG, RG&E, National Grid, and the Public Service Commission to prioritize new investments. Officials say a lack of capacity is threatening housing and business growth.

County Economic Development Director Ryan Davis says developers have shovel-ready projects, but utilities haven’t kept up – calling the situation “unsustainable” for Ontario County’s future.
