Penn Yan Police have arrested 30-year-old Whitney Soback of Penn Yan following an investigation into a fraud complaint.
According to police, a village resident reported an unauthorized charge on a business account. The investigation determined that Soback had falsified a business record and used the resident’s account to make a purchase for herself. Police said she also signed for the account holder without authorization.
Soback was interviewed at the Penn Yan Police Department, arrested on charges of identity theft, falsifying business records, and forgery, and later released on an appearance ticket. She is scheduled to appear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
