The Seymour Library’s 2026 operating budget has passed.
Voters on Wednesday approved a $1,139,713 budget for the Genesee Street library, $1,095,413 million of which will come from a tax levy on property within the library district, a slight increase over the 2025 levy of $1,043,250.
Library Director Lisa Carr had previously stated that the new budget would allow the library to keep its doors open and continue to offer a wide variety of programs and activities to residents within the district.
Library Director Lisa Carr noted, “This funding enables us to continue fulfilling a vital role in the community by providing information and resources to residents of all ages. Through programs such as Little Wigglers storytime, drop-in Mah Jongg and Scrabble, multiple book discussion groups, and access to our extensive collections, we remain committed to supporting lifelong learning opportunities for the entire community.”
The Seymour Library District consists of the City of Auburn, Town of Owasco, and the portions of Sennett and Fleming within the Auburn Enlarged City School District.
Voters in the Fleming portion of the district also elected Sylvia Kott to represent them on the library’s board of trustees.
