A Canandaigua man is facing charges after police say he was found intoxicated behind the wheel of a running vehicle and later discovered to have stolen from a local business.
Canandaigua Police responded to a West Avenue store around 6:44 a.m. on September 28, for a report of a suspicious condition. Officers say 21-year-old Alexander Colcord was allegedly found slumped over in his vehicle, which was parked in the lot with the engine still running. Colcord showed signs of intoxication and was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. During the investigation, police determined that he had stolen food items from the business just prior to his arrest. He was subsequently charged with Petit Larceny as well.
Colcord was released on appearance tickets for both offenses and is scheduled to appear in Canandaigua City Court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
