An Auburn man is facing multiple charges after police say he chased a woman and her children through a neighborhood while screaming at them.
According to the Auburn Police Department, officers were called to Greenview Circle on Sept. 28 for a report of a disturbance involving a man pursuing a woman and her children.
Investigators said the woman had just returned home from work when she was confronted by Christopher Bell. Bell allegedly charged at her aggressively while yelling, causing her to back away in fear. As the children became upset, the woman told them to run, and the family fled to a nearby home for safety while calling the police.
Police said the incident violated an active order of protection that had been issued against Bell.
When officers attempted to take him into custody, Bell resisted arrest before being subdued.
He was charged with felony counts of criminal contempt and aggravated family offense, along with misdemeanor charges of endangering the welfare of a child, menacing, and resisting arrest.
Bell was arraigned and remanded to the Cayuga County Jail.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
