A Penn Yan man is facing a felony charge under Leandra’s Law after allegedly driving drunk with a child in his vehicle, according to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say 35-year-old Brandon Bulley Sr. was stopped on Esperanza Road in the town of Jerusalem for a traffic violation early Sunday morning. During the stop, Bulley showed signs of intoxication and refused field sobriety tests. He was taken into custody and later refused a chemical test at the Yates County Jail.
Bulley is charged with aggravated DWI with a child passenger under 16, a felony under New York’s Leandra’s Law. He also faces additional charges, including endangering the welfare of a child, reckless driving, speeding, and failure to properly restrain a child aged 4–7.
Bulley was being held for the next session of CAP arraignment.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
