An Ontario County man with a history of sex offenses has been sentenced to 27 years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple felonies.
According to the Ontario County District Attorney’s Office, 43-year-old Daniel Sevigny, of Canandaigua, admitted to first-degree rape for the assault of a 14-year-old girl in April. While that case was still pending, prosecutors say Sevigny cut off his ankle monitor and fled under the guise of visiting his ill mother. During that time, he attempted another rape.
Sevigny was later captured and held without bail. While in custody at the Ontario County Jail, he assaulted another inmate, leading to an additional felony charge.
In total, Sevigny pleaded guilty to the original rape charge, attempted rape, and second-degree assault. He was sentenced on Wednesday to 27 years in prison, followed by 25 years of post-release supervision.
Officials noted that Sevigny is already a level three sex offender with prior convictions for sexual abuse, rape, and sodomy. He will undergo further review by the state’s Board of Examiners of Sex Offenders.
