A Town of Arcadia man is facing charges after deputies say he violated an order of protection and resisted arrest.
According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, 26-year-old Johnathon Deroo was arrested Sunday evening following an incident on Chapel Street.
Deputies say Deroo violated an active full stay-away order of protection involving the victim. When deputies attempted to take him into custody, he allegedly resisted but was eventually subdued and arrested.
Deroo was charged with second-degree criminal contempt and resisting arrest. He was held at the Wayne County Jail pending arraignment and will return to Arcadia Town Court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
