A Leroy woman was taken to the hospital on Wednesday afternoon after a crash in Ontario County.
Deputies say 75-year-old Mary Lowe was driving a red Ford Escape on State Route 5 & 20 around 1:35 p.m. when she attempted to make a left-hand turn onto West Avenue Extension. Investigators say she made a wide turn, left the roadway, and struck several political signs before colliding with a utility pole.
Lowe suffered minor injuries and was transported by Canandaigua Emergency Squad to Thompson Hospital.
The Cheshire Fire Department also responded to the scene, and RG&E was called to repair the damaged utility pole.
Lowe was issued a traffic ticket for making an improper left-hand turn on a two-way roadway.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
