A 33-year-old Newark man has been arrested in connection with a bicycle theft that took place earlier this summer in Clifton Springs.
According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, Robert Nathaniel Wells Jr. was taken into custody in the parking lot of the Ontario County Jail.
Wells was wanted on a Manchester Town Court arrest warrant charging him with petit larceny, a Class A misdemeanor. Deputies say Wells stole a bicycle valued at $108 from the Clifton Springs Hospital property on July 29. The bicycle belonged to a hospital employee.
Wells was booked into the Ontario County Jail, where he remains awaiting arraignment.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation; the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
