A 33-year-old Prattsburgh man is facing multiple felony charges after police say he tried to flee officers in Bath last week.
According to the Bath Village Police Department, an off-duty officer spotted Domenick Lepera around 9 a.m. on September 24 walking on East Steuben Street. Knowing he had several active warrants, the officer alerted on-duty police.
When officers arrived, Lepera allegedly ran but was caught a short time later. Police say that during the chase, he discarded a bag containing drugs and packaging materials. A large sum of money was also found on him, according to investigators.
Lepera was wanted on several Steuben County bench warrants tied to drug possession and sales, as well as a superior court warrant for first-degree bail jumping, a Class D felony.
He was processed in Steuben County Court and taken to the county jail without bail. Police say additional charges are pending.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation; the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
