One of the two men convicted of robbing a Port Byron bank earlier this year is headed to prison.
The Citizen reports that 58-year-old Weldon Malone Jr., of Auburn, was sentenced Thursday to two to four years in prison for his role in a January bank robbery in Port Byron.
Malone was convicted of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, satisfying a third-degree robbery charge, and also received a concurrent two-year sentence for third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, which includes two years of post-release supervision.
The robbery occurred on January 6 at Savannah Bank, 126 Main Street. His accomplice, 48-year-old Brandon Millhoff, of Auburn, was apprehended three days later and pleaded guilty in February; he is scheduled to be sentenced on November 20.
