State Police say a man wanted in connection with a homicide in Cohoes has been taken into custody in Franklin County.

On Friday at around 7:30 a.m., troopers and Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a suspicious person walking along State Route 86 near Paul Smith’s College. Officers located and arrested Anthony Bechand of Cohoes, who was transported to the State Police barracks in Ray Brook for questioning.

Bechand was being sought in connection with the September 14 death of 41-year-old Amanda Rodriguez. Cohoes Police discovered Rodriguez deceased at a residence on Earl Lynn Court around 9:15 that morning.

Later the same day, investigators located Bechand’s vehicle — a white 2024 Chevrolet Silverado — near the intersection of County Routes 60 and 86 in the town of Brighton, Franklin County.

The investigation remains ongoing.
