The Finger Lakes Health Foundation received a $8000.00 grant from the Yates Community Endowment of the Rochester Area Community Foundation to help fund the purchase of new equipment for the Emergency Department at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital in Penn Yan. The equipment included larger and more comfortable patient stretchers, and new intravenous pumps which allow for remote, real-time monitoring of medicine and fluid administration.
“We strive every day to provide the best possible care to our patients, whether in the emergency department, in the hospital or in one of our primary care practices,” says Matthew Talbott M.D., FACEP, MBA, Chief Medical Officer for Finger Lakes Health. “Stretchers and pumps are the workhorses of the emergency department, important tools that allow us to provide the care our patients need. We are profoundly grateful to the Yates Community Endowment Board for its partnership in promoting and sustaining access to vital health care services in the region.”
Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital has been named one of Becker’s Healthcare’s 100 Great Community Hospitals. The hospital delivers essential services to Yates County, including advanced imaging, primary and behavioral care and skilled nursing. The 24/7 Emergency Department, staffed with board-certified emergency medicine doctors, ranks No. 10 in New York State for emergency department speed, with a median wait time of just 7 minutes.
