4 p.m. UPDATE:

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash in Macedon after a vehicle went off the road and into a retention pond on Wednesday morning.

Deputies say 57-year-old Robin Sardone of Macedon was driving south on Hance Road at around 4 o’clock when she failed to navigate the intersection with Route 31F. Her vehicle left the roadway and came to rest in a nearby retention pond.

The Sheriff’s Dive Team recovered the vehicle, and Sardone was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Macedon Center Fire Department, South Macedon Fire Department, Macedon Town Ambulance, Macedon Police, and Palmyra Police all assisted at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Crash Investigations Team.

Wayne County deputies are working to recover the body of a driver whose car went into a pond early this morning in Macedon.

Officials say the vehicle left the road around 4 on State Route 31F between Wilcox and Canandaigua roads. The driver’s identity has not been released, and authorities are still investigating why the car ended up in the water.

This is a developing story.  We will continue to update as more information is made available.
