A 17-year-old boy from Ithaca was arrested early Sunday morning following a high-speed fleeing incident in the Town of Dryden. The teen faces misdemeanor charges, including Reckless Driving, Unlawful Fleeing of a Motor Vehicle in the third degree, and Resisting Arrest, along with multiple traffic violations.

According to the New York State Police, the incident began around 11 p.m. Saturday night at the Ellis Hollow Community Center on Genung Road. Troopers and Tompkins County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a reported disturbance. While deputies were investigating, the teen left the scene in an Audi A4 and failed to comply with law enforcement commands.

A trooper activated emergency lights and attempted to stop the vehicle. During the pursuit, the teen committed several traffic violations, endangering other motorists. The vehicle ultimately stopped in a driveway on Snyder Hill Road, but the driver continued to resist lawful orders. He was taken into custody by a state trooper and a sheriff’s deputy.

The teen was transported to State Police Ithaca, examined by EMS, issued a Family Court Appearance Ticket, and released to a parent.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
