The Keuka College women’s volleyball team wrapped up play at the Oswego State Invitational on Saturday, taking on the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford and SUNY Canton in rematches from earlier this season. The Wolves (1–13) fell in straight sets to Pitt-Bradford before pushing Canton to five sets in a hard-fought battle.
Pitt-Bradford 3, Keuka 0 (30-28, 25-15, 25-13)
The Wolves opened strong against Pitt-Bradford, trading points throughout the first set. A four-point run sparked by Summer Elza (Goodyear, Ariz. / Odyssey Institute) gave Keuka a late lead, but the Panthers responded to take the frame and carried that momentum to complete the sweep.
First-year standout Alessandra Castañeda (San Antonio, Texas / John Marshall) reached a career milestone in the match, surpassing 100 kills on the season with nine against Pitt-Bradford.
SUNY Canton 3, Keuka 2 (25-13, 25-19, 17-25, 23-25, 17-15)
Keuka regrouped against SUNY Canton, rallying after dropping the first two sets. Powered by a six-point run in the third and a 13-5 rally in the fourth, the Wolves forced a decisive fifth set.
Castañeda led the charge with a season-best 20 kills, including eight during the comeback in the fourth set. The decisive frame was a thriller, featuring six ties and four lead changes, but Canton closed on a three-point run to edge the Wolves.
