Assemblymember Anna Kelles and regional business owners and environmental advocates will gather Sunday at the Finger Lakes Welcome Center in Geneva for a rally focused on local environmental issues. The event is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
Organizers say the rally will address concerns they share that are related to air and water quality in the Finger Lakes region, including the Greenidge Generation gas-powered cryptomining facility and the Seneca Meadows landfill, which is seeking to expand its operations.
Speakers at the event will include Assemblymember Kelles, Brady Fergusson of the Climate Solutions Accelerator, Dr. Robert Howarth of Cornell University, Reverend Jane Winters, Vinny Aliperti of Billsboro Winery, and Yvonne Taylor of Seneca Lake Guardian.
The event coincides with a national day of action promoting clean energy and environmental protection. Organizers aim to encourage continued attention to regional environmental challenges and the impact of local and state policies on the Finger Lakes.
