Music, community, and philanthropy came together last Friday at United Way LIVE, a one-night concert at Anthology that raised more than $34,000 for United Way of Greater Rochester and the Finger Lakes.
Four workplace bands battled it out for the “golden mic” trophy by raising the most funds: Sage Against the Machine (Sage Rutty & Co.), Refer with Caution (Genesee Regional Bank), ESL House Band (ESL Federal Credit Union), and The Blues Breakers with special guest The Puckdaddys (Excellus BlueCross BlueShield). The night was hosted by Dino Kay of Country 100.5 and iHeartMedia.
The ESL House Band emerged as the evening’s champion, taking home the “golden mic.”
“United Way LIVE continues to prove that doing good truly feels good,” said Jaime Saunders, president and CEO of United Way of Greater Rochester and the Finger Lakes. “Raising over $34,000 in just our second year shows the incredible power of what started as a small idea. We’re amazed by the growing support from our talented bands, workplace partners, sponsors, and passionate fans.”
All proceeds will support United Way’s programs providing food, shelter, education, and essential services across the region.
This year’s event was made possible with the help of workplace bands, community supporters, and sponsors Optima Benefits & Payroll and Crosby Brownlie.
