Ontario County Sheriff’s Deputies say a family escaped safely after a house fire Saturday morning in Phelps.
Deputies responded to County Road 20 around 10 a.m. and found smoke coming from the home. Everyone inside made it out without injury.
Fire crews from Phelps, Clifton Springs, and Seneca Castle were able to put out the flames. The Red Cross is assisting the family with temporary housing.
Investigators believe the fire may have started while cooking, but the cause remains under investigation by the Ontario County Fire Coordinator’s Office.
