The New York State Canal Corporation and the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor will hold two virtual workshops this month to help applicants prepare for the 2026 round of Canal System Tourism Infrastructure and Event Grants, which opens October 14.
The sessions will focus on improving accessibility so projects and events can better serve people with and without disabilities.
Workshop dates:
- Monday, Sept. 15, 2025, 11:30 a.m.–1 p.m. — Events Accessibility Workshop
- Thursday, Sept. 18, 2025, 11:30 a.m.–1 p.m. — Tourism, Infrastructure & Amenities Accessibility Workshop
Grants are available to counties, municipalities, local governments, not-for-profit organizations, and federally recognized Native American tribes. Awards range from $500 to $24,000 and support tourism and recreation along the New York State Canal System, including its waterways and the Canalway Trail.
