Elmira Apartment Residents Warn of Potential Power Shutoff

SHARE NOW

Residents of the Woodlawn Court apartments in Elmira were notified Friday that electricity could be shut off in the coming weeks if back payments are not made by the complex’s landlords. WETM in Elmira reported that NYSEG employees posted notices on each apartment door at 346 Woodlawn Avenue, alerting tenants that utility services may be disconnected on Tuesday, September 23, unless payments are brought current.

The notice states the complex owes $319,265.62. Tenants were informed that payments can be made in full before the deadline to prevent service interruptions. NYSEG also provided a phone number for customer questions: 1-800-572-1111.

This is the second utility shutdown threat in less than a year for Woodlawn Court. Last Halloween, power was cut off for more than a day but was restored on November 1, 2024.
