Syracuse Man Arrested After Minibike Crash Near State Fairgrounds

SHARE NOW

State Police say a Syracuse man was arrested after a large group of motorcycles, minibikes, and ATVs caused disturbances near the New York State Fairgrounds on August 23.

Troopers say about 100 riders were performing burnouts and blocking traffic on Erie Boulevard West in Syracuse, creating safety concerns for businesses and fairgoers. When police attempted to stop the group, the riders took off, committing multiple traffic violations.

At Erie Boulevard and West Genesee Street, a minibike rider crashed into another bike, which then struck a vehicle stopped at the intersection. Troopers identified the rider as 25-year-old Oscar Blair of Syracuse. Police say he tried to flee and resisted arrest before being taken into custody.

Blair’s minibike was impounded, and he was initially ticketed. Following a review of body camera footage, Blair was later charged with obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, reckless driving, and disorderly conduct.

He was processed at SP North Syracuse and taken to the Onondaga County Justice Center.
