Road Projects Begin Today in Geneva, Elbridge

SHARE NOW

As the month of September begins, road crews will be busy with projects in the region.

Motorists should expect lane restrictions on State Route 31 in the Town of Elbridge this week. Starting today through Saturday, September 6, Route 31 will be reduced to a single lane between Carmer Road and Sweeney Place from 5 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weeknights. Traffic will alternate under the control of a temporary signal while crews perform bridge work.

In the City of Geneva, roadway milling and paving work will begin on Tuesday, affecting several streets across the city.

The Department of Public Works says the project is expected to last about three weeks, though the timeline may change due to weather or other conditions. Streets scheduled for paving include Seneca Street, South Main Street, Twomey Place, Park Avenue, Pulteney Street, Prospect Avenue, North Avenue, Maple Street, Pleasant Street, Larchmont Street, Routes 5 & 20, the North and South Cloverleafs, the South Exchange Street parking lot, and all intersecting streets.

City officials say parking and through-traffic will be restricted during workdays, and parking rules will be enforced, including the possibility of towing.
