One Airlifted After Rollover Crash in Schuyler County

SHARE NOW

A rollover crash in the Town of Dix on Thursday morning left one person airlifted to the hospital and several others injured, according to the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say the crash happened around 9:20 a.m. at the intersection of Irelandville Road and Cross Road. A 2025 Honda CR-V, driven by Naresh Vemula of New Jersey, reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign and entered the intersection. A southbound Dodge Journey, driven by Dennis Thompson, of Reading, then struck the rear passenger side of the Honda, causing it to roll over.

The Honda was carrying three passengers in addition to the driver. One passenger was ejected during the rollover and flown by LifeNet Air Medical to the hospital. The driver and two other passengers were taken by ambulance to Robert Packer Hospital with unknown injuries. Both drivers reported minor injuries.

Vemula was ticketed for failing to stop at a stop sign and driving at a speed not reasonable or prudent.

The Watkins Glen Fire Department, Schuyler County Emergency Management, Centralus EMS, and LifeNet Air Medical assisted at the scene.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
