Penn Yan Police have arrested a 34-year-old Penn Yan man following an alleged criminal mischief incident in the village.
Authorities say that in the early hours of last Saturday, Vermilye attempted to enter a residence on Commercial Avenue. While he was unable to gain entry, he allegedly caused damage to several items on the exterior of the property before leaving the scene.
Vermilye was charged with Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree and released with a court appearance scheduled in Penn Yan Court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
