An Ithaca man is facing attempted murder charges following a June stabbing incident on West Green Street.
Police say officers responded to the 300 block of West Green Street around 9:45 p.m. on June 12, where they found a victim suffering from stab wounds. The victim was treated at the scene by Ithaca firefighters before being taken to a regional trauma center for further care.
Investigators later identified the suspect as 20-year-old Nazir Chisolm of Ithaca. Last Friday, members of the Ithaca Police Department, with help from the U.S. Marshals Service and the Blount County Sheriff’s Office, took Chisolm into custody in Maryville, Tennessee. He was transported back to Ithaca to face charges.
Chisolm was arraigned before Judge Wallace and is currently being held in the Tompkins County Jail pending further court proceedings.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
