Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck reports the arrest of 33-year-old Joseph Mattice of Conquest on August 21 following a domestic incident.
Deputies say Mattice struck a victim in the face, causing a nosebleed, and later grabbed the victim’s clothing around the collar, restricting their breathing. He then fled into a wooded area before being located and taken into custody.
Mattice was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing and menacing in the third degree. He was transported to the Public Safety Building for processing and arraignment.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
