Walmart is moving forward with plans to expand its Auburn location as part of a companywide initiative to remodel more than 650 stores this year, including 23 in New York.
The City of Auburn approved Walmart’s minor site plan review application for a 3,077-square-foot addition last month. The project will be handled in partnership with Colliers Engineering & Design, though building permits have not yet been submitted.
A Walmart spokesperson told the Auburn Citizen the expansion is “part of our continued efforts to improve the shopping experience for customers and invest in the communities we serve.” The remodel will include an enlarged online pickup and delivery area, allowing the store to serve more customers with convenient shopping options.
Walmart’s Auburn store has been operating since 1993.
