The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of an Irondequoit man following a welfare fraud investigation.
Deputies say 42-year-old Anthony Scalzo was charged with misuse of food stamps and petit larceny after allegedly using a deceased person’s EBT card to obtain benefits.
Investigators say the incident happened on June 9 when Scalzo redeemed $254 in SNAP benefits he was not entitled to.
Scalzo was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Lyons Town Court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
