The Yates County Legislature met in special session last week and reversed an earlier decision to pursue membership in the Rochester Genesee Regional Transportation Authority (RGRTA).
Lawmakers voted to rescind Resolution 385-25, which had passed on August 11. County Administrator Jessica Mullins told Finger Lakes Daily News that legislators cited unanswered questions about governance, cost, and structure. An ad-hoc committee will now work with RGRTA officials and the county attorney to prepare a detailed report, which is expected by October. While several lawmakers say the county should move forward with public transit, others remain unconvinced it’s needed.
The Legislature is expected to revisit the issue later this fall.
