The New York State Supreme Court has reinstated the Truth and Justice independent ballot line for Jason MacBride in the upcoming November District Attorney election. The court granted MacBride’s motion to reargue an earlier decision that had removed the line from the ballot.
According to the court, a technical printing error during the initial review caused dozens of curing affidavits validating voter signatures to be omitted. After reviewing the complete records, the court found that MacBride had well over the required number of valid signatures. Neither the petitioner, William Hastings, nor the Ontario County Board of Elections opposed the motion.
This marks MacBride’s second major court victory in this election cycle. Earlier, he successfully defended against a challenge to his Republican primary ballot access. In both cases, MacBride represented himself in court.
With the reinstatement of the Truth and Justice line, MacBride will appear on the November ballot on both the Republican and Truth and Justice lines.
