Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard reports that deputies arrested 37-year-old Kenneth Mikko, Jr. of Bath, following an alleged assault inside the Steuben County Jail.
Officials say Mikko, who is currently incarcerated, engaged in a fight and repeatedly struck another inmate, who uses a wheelchair. The victim was treated by jail medical staff for injuries sustained during the incident.
Mikko has been charged with assault in the second degree, a class D felony. He was arraigned in Centralized Arraignment Court and returned to jail custody.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
