The Geneva Police Department has issued a public safety alert following a recent uptick in thefts from vehicles in the Slosson Lane area and surrounding neighborhoods.
Authorities are urging residents to take extra precautions, especially during evening hours, as several incidents of vehicle larcenies have been reported.
To help reduce the risk of theft, police are encouraging residents to follow the “9 PM Routine,” a simple nightly checklist that includes:
Locking vehicle doors
Removing valuables from inside vehicles
Securing homes and garages
Turning on exterior or motion-sensor lights
Additional safety tips include parking in well-lit areas, never leaving keys or key fobs in your vehicle, and reporting suspicious activity promptly.
Residents can report non-emergency concerns to the Geneva Police Department at (585) 394-4560. For emergencies, always call 911.
Police say community vigilance is key to keeping neighborhoods safe and preventing further incidents.
