Seneca County Sheriff Tim Thompson says two people from Waterloo are facing felony charges after deputies found a substantial amount of suspected crack cocaine during a traffic stop in the Town of Fayette.
Deputies say the stop happened on August 7 around 2 p.m. after a vehicle driven by 38-year-old Joshua Trout and 56-year-old Sue Huling was spotted on a public highway with an expired inspection. When deputies approached, drug paraphernalia was reportedly visible inside the vehicle.
A search turned up multiple individually packaged amounts of suspected crack cocaine and a digital scale. Investigators believe Trout and Huling were trying to hide the narcotics inside the vehicle before being stopped.
Both were charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, a Class B felony, and tampering with physical evidence, a Class E felony.
They were taken to the Seneca County Law Enforcement Center for processing and arraigned in CAP court. Both are due back in Fayette Town Court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
