Wegmans Warehouse Shooting Suspect Pleads Not Guilty

SHARE NOW

A man accused of fatally shooting a co-worker at the Wegmans warehouse in Gates has pleaded not guilty to a second-degree murder charge.

A Monroe County grand jury indicted 32-year-old Kyshonn Green in connection with the July 26 shooting that left 25-year-old J’Mere Ridley-Smith dead. U.S. Marshals arrested Green the following day in Knoxville, Tennessee, where they say he was found with a loaded gun. He was extradited to Rochester on Monday.

Police say the shooting happened around 4 p.m. inside the warehouse during work hours. Ridley-Smith was found dead at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds. Gates Police emphasized there was no threat to other employees.

Green, who was initially arraigned in Knoxville as a fugitive from justice, is scheduled to return to court on Oct. 7. Authorities have not released a possible motive.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
