Loaded Handgun Found in Geneva Yard Leads to Arrest

SHARE NOW

The City of Geneva Police Department arrested a local man following the discovery of a loaded handgun in a residential yard.

Officers responded to Geneva Street on August 2 after a report of a found firearm. They located a loaded Smith & Wesson M&P Shield 9mm semi-automatic handgun outside a multi-unit home.

Further investigation revealed the handgun belonged to John Arroyo, a Geneva resident.

On August 6, police arrested Arroyo on charges of Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree. He was processed at the Geneva Police Department and issued an appearance ticket to return to the City of Geneva Criminal Court at a later date.

The handgun was secured for safekeeping, and a referral has been made to Ontario County Court to review Arroyo’s pistol permit.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
