Early Morning Fire in Bath Damages Home and Vehicle

SHARE NOW

The Bath Fire Department responded to a structure fire early Monday morning at 220 Liberty Street. The call came in at approximately 4:26 a.m., initially reporting a fence on fire about five feet from a residence.

Fire Chief Mike Fiordo, who was first on scene, confirmed the fire had spread from the fence to the home and a nearby vehicle, with flames reaching toward the second floor. A second alarm was quickly requested to bring in additional resources.

Firefighters focused their efforts on the rear of the building, successfully containing the blaze and preventing it from spreading to the front. Mutual aid came from several neighboring departments, including Bath VA, Hammondsport, Kanona, and Painted Post Fire Departments, as well as support from Bath Ambulance and Steuben County Emergency Services.

Law enforcement agencies—including Bath Police, the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, and New York State Police—helped clear the building before firefighters arrived.

No injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Bath Fire units were back in service by 8:28 a.m.
