A Cayuga County man has been charged in connection with a stolen pickup truck that deputies say was also involved in a crash.
Sheriff Brian Schenck said 20-year-old Calob Paige was arrested on August 5 on a warrant for fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony.
The charge stems from a June 10 traffic stop on Beech Tree Road in Aurelius, when deputies pulled over a pickup driven by Paige and released him with traffic tickets. Days later, the vehicle’s owners discovered it had been stolen at the time of the stop and had been in a collision.
Paige was arraigned in CAP Court and released on his own recognizance.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
