A Seneca Falls woman is facing a felony DWI charge under Leandra’s Law after police say she was allegedly found intoxicated behind the wheel with a child in the car.
Around midnight on Saturday, Geneva Police responded to a report of a possible intoxicated driver on Lafayette Avenue. Officers found Vanessa Grady standing next to a parked vehicle, with a four-year-old child in the back seat. Police say Grady was confirmed to be the driver and showed signs of intoxication during field sobriety tests. Her blood alcohol content tested at .22%, nearly three times the legal limit.
Grady was charged with aggravated DWI under Leandra’s Law, which makes it a felony to drive intoxicated with a child under 16 in the vehicle. She was taken to the Ontario County Jail to await arraignment.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
