A 34-year-old man is facing serious charges after allegedly threatening to use explosives at the Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack on Saturday.

According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of a bomb threat at the Farmington casino. The suspect, identified as Jose Luis Torres-Berrios, reportedly made the threat after being asked to leave the bar area by casino security due to a verbal altercation.

Authorities say Torres-Berrios told staff he would return to his home on State Route 96 to create multiple explosive devices, which he then planned to use to blow up the establishment and harm the people inside.

Deputies later arrested Torres-Berrios and charged him with making a terrorist threat, a felony offense.

No explosives were found, and no injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
