A 69-year-old Ontario man is facing DWI charges after a traffic stop Thursday evening on Route 104.
According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrested Thad Smith after observing him fail to yield to an oncoming vehicle and swerve across lanes near Lakeside Road. Deputies say Smith showed signs of impairment during field sobriety tests and refused all chemical testing.
He was charged with Driving While Intoxicated (Common Law), Failure to Keep Right, and Failure to Yield the Right of Way. Smith was held for arraignment in CAP Court.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
