Geneva Native, Retired Corrections Sergeant Announces Run for County Board

SHARE NOW

A lifelong Geneva resident and retired Corrections Sergeant, is officially running for a seat on the Ontario County Board of Supervisors. The Geneva City Republican Committee has announced that Sean Legg will represent Wards 1 and 2 in the City of Geneva and will appear on the Bipartisan line in the upcoming election on November 4.

A registered Republican with nearly 24 years of experience in county government, Legg recently retired from the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, where he served as a Corrections Sergeant. His resume also includes time as a Security Officer at Hobart and William Smith Colleges and involvement in his family’s business, the Geneva Glass Center. He currently works at Finger Lakes Recycling on North Exchange Street.

“I’ve spent my life working in public service, and I know the inner workings of county government,” said Legg. “I support the closure of the landfill, but it needs to be done thoughtfully and with a plan that protects both the environment and taxpayers. Geneva deserves its fair share of services from the County, and I intend to advocate for that.”

Key points of Legg’s platform include expanding mental health and substance abuse services as alternatives to incarceration—an approach shaped by his experience in the corrections system. He is also pushing for the reopening of Geneva’s DMV office to improve access to essential services for residents.

A graduate of Geneva High School, Legg holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He and his wife raised three daughters in Geneva. His community involvement includes 11 years on the Board of Directors for the Geneva Family YMCA and active membership in the Knights of Columbus and St. Stephen’s Church.

“I’m running because I care about Geneva and its future,” Legg said. “I want to be a voice for the people, especially on issues of fairness, safety, and community well-being.”
